The contest between The Illuminati and The Scarlet Witch looks pretty promising in Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, at first. But within seconds tables are turned.

This little encounter left Earth — 838 with a pile of bodies. While fan were left with a ton of questions.

None of The Illuminati members are a match against Wanda who’s fueled by The Darkhold. While fans are making fun of all the members, here are 3 reasons why The Illuminati underestimated The Scarlet Witch.

1 — Wanda married Ultron of Earth — 838.

Remember how there were Ultron bots in Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness. It’s entirely possible that Reed Richards worked with Tony Stark and hence the Ultron program on Earth — 838 ended up working. So, Vision was never born here.

But Wanda still wanted to have kids. For Billy and Tommy to exist in any universe they must still have the same father. That’s why Wanda never tried to look for Vision because he simply didn’t exist.

2 — The Illuminati member Professor X, made a barrier in Wanda’s mind so that she could never know her true potential.

Other members of The Illuminati didn’t think Wanda was a threat because of what Professor X did.

Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness never focused on Earth — 838 Wanda. We never get to know her story. We see her as a mother but she probably loses her parents and her brother. That still makes Wanda a potential threat.

So, Professor X, created a barrier within Wanda’s mind, so she can never find out her true power. Hence, she’s a happy housewife with her children. Nobody knows about it because in a way, Professor X is protecting her and other from herself. But, he knows the prophecy of The Scarlet Witch.

3 — The Illuminati never faced the worst

Things on Earth — 616 went sideways after the events of Captain America: Civil War. The situation was worse in Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos defeated the Earth’s mightiest heroes. So, throughout Avengers: Endgame, we see everyone struggling.

Wanda was broken only because what Thanos did to Vision.

While on Earth — 838, this never happened. Doctor Strange defeated Thanos almost single handedly using The Darkhold that too on his turf, Titan. So, The Illuminati never faced any bad situation that we know of.

The Illuminati could never have imagine what Wanda could do at her absolute worst. So, when Doctor Strange of Earth — 616 tells them about Wanda, they tell him that it was him who is the real threat. Only Professor — X knew the danger and hence he trusted Strange.

There was no way for the others to know what Wanda was capable of and that they were actually facing The Scarlet Witch. Hence, they met their fate the way we saw in the movie.

At this point, I know these reasons are more like theories since Marvel never explained anything for Earth — 838. But I think that these are pretty solid theories. Let me know what your thoughts in the comments.
